My background:
I began my career working within accounting related
jobs, eventually moving into lecturing within local colleges of FE, teaching
GCSE & A Level Accounting and Business Studies. I also worked for Sheffield Hallam University
observing and giving feedback to PGCE students doing their teaching practice,
as well as marking IT/IS Dissertations and examination papers for Universities
of Lincoln & Hull.
My career progressed over time into more managerial
positions, which tended to combine my accountancy background with IT. I worked for three years for Kvaerner Process UK, a global organisation, where I was the global IT Budget Accountant, and also worked on the IT Infrastructure and IT Outsourcing Projects, becoming involved with Benchmarking, and Due Dilligence.
Hence because of my involvement with
Customer Relationship Management and IT Outsourcing, I then moved to a position with IBM UK Ltd., which lasted for 10 years until I took voluntary redundancy in April 2011.
During the time working for IBM, I specialized in Business Controls for two years, then as Process Compliance and Quality Manager (involving lots of compliance testing) for the next four years, and lastly spent four years as a Commercial Manager, working on a number of outsourced accounts, managing financials, baselines, deliverables, contract changes, requests for services, Customer relationship management, audit readiness, risks & issues management, information security etc.
